John Speers
Founder, Artistic Director & Band Conductor
John was born and raised in Lafayette, CA. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelors in music performance in 2011 and a masters from the San Francisco Conservatory in 2015. He also has his teaching credential.
He returned to Lamorinda in 2016 to work as the elementary school band and general music teacher for the Lafayette School District. Since 2022, he has been at the Orinda Unified School District as the elementary school band and strings teacher. John also teaches private lessons at Lamorinda Music.
His dream to start a community ensemble came true in January of 2023 with the inception of Lamorinda Community Band. He looks forward to continuing to spread his passion for instrumental music to the Lamorinda community and beyond.
Daniel Montgomery
Orchestra Conductor
Daniel is a classically trained violinist and music teacher with an array of experience teaching young string players.
He is currently a music instructor at Antioch Charter Academy and Generation Music & Arts Academy in San Leandro, where specializes in teaching young musicians in grades 3-8.
Jenn Freedman
Executive Director
Jenn is an experienced strategic and operational leader committed to advancing important social, educational, public health, and environmental causes.
Her diverse background includes Director of Operations at nonprofit HERA Digital Health, Director of Marketing at Old Navy, board president/member at Up On Top After School Program, freelance writer, and founder of her food blog, Plant-Powered Livin’.
